Cancel your credit cards gingerly
You are very enthusiastic while applying for a credit card. But after some time, you find a bunch of cards piling in your wallet, many of them are unused. Some of these cards charge annual fees.
As most of them remain unused, you get a temptation to cancel them. Is it a right thing to do?
Credit card operations constitute a major part of your credit score. The credit you enjoy on these cards will be looked favorably by the lenders. If you are making regular and timely payments for the balances on these cards, it will boost your credit score further. Even if some cards remain unused, the ratio between your total available credit and actual spending on them remains high. For example, if you are holding a number of cards with an overall credit of ,000 and you have used only one card for ,000, you have utilized only 20 per cent of your total available credit.
Now suppose you decide to cancel some unused cards with available credit facility of ,000, your available credit automatically drops down to ,000. As your utilized credit is ,000, it represents 50 per cent of your available credit. This ratio is very high and it may hurt your credit score. This high ratio will be interpreted by credit card companies as a risk for your future payments.
It is a good idea to keep all your cards ‘live’ by making minimal use. Even if you think of canceling some of them, you should keep your oldest card. The period for which you are holding your card affects your credit score. That will give you the benefit of extending your credit history for a longer period of time. Consumers with the longer credit history are considered less risky as compared to those with shorter credit history.
If you are planning to apply for a mortgage or a car loan in the near future, canceling cards will have a negative impact on your credit history. In that situation you should keep the unused cards until your loan transaction is concluded.
Many people, who are not eligible to get credit cards, apply for a store card (card issued by the departmental stores). If they are regular in making payments, they become eligible to get the normal credit cards. Then they want to cancel the store cards. If these store cards are not charging any fees, it is advisable to keep them. It will make a diverse mix of cards for you which will be considered good by the credit bureau.
High End Living In the Sky: Penthouse Condo Units
According to the Oxford Dictionary a penthouse is defined as “an apartment on the top floor of a tall building, typically luxuriously fitted and offering fine views.” This definition does not do justice to these glamorous residences that have developers competing for building the best of penthouse living. Attracting the wealthiest of the wealthy, builders scramble to create the ultimate luxury living to accommodate the high standards expected from a penthouse unit purchaser.
This however has not always been the case. In the past the “penthouse” of a building was considered only to be the dwelling located on the top floor of the building. These units were not necessarily considered to be high end living and were not significantly different from the other residential units in the building. The only exception was that they were the highest unit in the building.

Over the years, the term “penthouse” has definitely evolved. Penthouse units are now considered to be high end luxury living units on a high level- but not necessarily the very top floor of the building. Some condo buildings have two or three floors of penthouse units with the top floor units now being referred to as “The Penthouse.” Take for example Aura at College Park located in Toronto, Canada. Once built, this building will be the tallest residential building in North America. The “penthouse” units for this building start on the 72nd floor and end on the 74th floor and are made up of multiple units on one floor. In the past, these would have been considered “sub-penthouse” units. “The Penthouse” for this particular building is the entire 75th floor. The crown of this building is an extraordinary 11,000 square feet and priced at .5 million Canadian dollars. For those looking to own the tallest penthouse in North America, this would be the ultimate of luxury living. Think caviar and champagne.
Overall the term penthouse has evolved over the years. High rise enthusiasts now have more inventory to choose from and are aware that the term “penthouse” now refers to high end living and not just the top floor of a building. Not only are penthouse seekers living in luxury, but they’re also above everyone else and essentially in a world of their own. Simple put, to live in penthouses or “The Penthouse” in today’s world is simply a new way of living to demonstrate one’s ultimate success.
How To Prepare Tasty Peas & Rice For A Tasty Side Dish
White rice, peas and onions make a tasty side dish with any meal. Preparing rice, peas and onions is fairly inexpensive and it takes less than 15 minutes. Make sure you purchase only fresh peas from your local supermarket or grocer.
You will need 1 box of instant rice, 1 package of fresh peas, 1 large Spanish onion diced, 3 tablespoons butter, and 1 can of chicken or beef stock. Depending on what else you are serving will determine weather or not you use chicken or beef stock. If you are serving the rice with meat then you should use the beef stock, if you are having chicken or fish then you should use chicken stock.
Empty contents of chicken or beef stock in medium saucepan, when broth begins to boil add rice according to directions. Cover rice with lid and remove from stove, let rice simmer in broth until it is absorbed. You can use plain chicken or beef broth however; the stock gives your rice a much richer and smoother taste. Stock tends to have less preservatives or salt added.
You made add 1-teaspoon garlic powder, 1-teaspoon salt, 1-teaspoon black pepper and 1 teaspoon paprika for additional flavor. I normally refrain from adding salt or pepper and I leave the spices to individual taste preference.
Add diced onion, peas and for some extra flavor add 1 package of sliced mushrooms. You should simmer the mushrooms and peas with some butter and ½ cup of white wine for about 3 minutes before adding it to the cooked rice. Enjoy!!
